Scientific Calculator - iOS and Android apps

Overview

The desire was to build a scientific calculator that had a “natural display”, that is a display that showed maths equations like you would write them on paper.

Outcome

In a market of thousands of existing calculator apps, Natural Scientific Calculator stood out and gained over 1 million downloads organically. This was done on a $150 marketing budget, signalling the genuine appreciation that users had for the novel user interface, which was more ergonomic to use than existing apps.

Testimonials

I really loved this calculator – it's very useful for me, and it's the best on the Play Store. This is the first time I've sent feedback for an application. Thanks a lot!

Tony G.

Easily the best calculator out there – not just for scientific calculations. I think you know that as well.

Youri S.

It was the best calculator on the [iOS] App Store!

AI Biographer - Web app

Overview

The client wanted to build an app that interviews a user like an autobiographer. The biographer needed to be capable of holding a conversation for over 1 hour, and also generate an autobiography that could later be published as a book.

Outcome

Given the inability of agents to hold a conversation for more than 5 minutes, nor their inability to proactively lead a conversation and follow a scripted flow, several technical workarounds had to be devised. The result was an AI biographer that could naturally ask a person about their entire life, delving into specific details and also segueing using convincing small talk where necessary.

Testimonial

The AI Biographer works amazingly, brilliant!

Charity donation app and payment processing backend - iOS and Android apps

Overview

The client was a Sydney based startup who had previously outsourced the development of an app designed to collect charity donations to offshore developers. Due to security and stability issues with that app, we were brought in to rebuild the app for wider usage on iOS and Android. They wanted to build a two sided marketplace somewhat reminiscent of AirBNB, to connect charities and donors.

Outcome

Our rebuild took 6 months and was a resounding success and handled a high volume of transactions during many fundraising campaigns like the Melbourne Cup. The result was a highly performant app that performed nearly three times as fast as the previous one, with the level of polish and feel of a top ranking app.

Testimonial

You guys are the best and have brought so much joy to my day.

AI Receptionist - AI process tool

Overview

The client hired a receptionist agency to take calls. However after testing the agency, they found out that the agency frequently failed to take calls, and when calls were taken, the receptionist didn't know the client's business details.

Outcome

They replaced the receptionist agency with our AI Receptionist, which handled 100% of calls and returned each user with a text about the company's services. Instead of paying $1000/month for an unreliable receptionist agency, they paid dramatically less for a better service.

Testimonial

For us working with the AI Receptionist was dramatically easier and cheaper than the traditional agency, which was shockingly unreliable.

Backend optimisation for an outdoor billboards analytics company

Overview

The client was a Sydney based startup that provided an analytics solution to determine whether the ad spend that companies were spending on outdoor billboards aligned with real time being displayed on them. Given their recent success with finding more clients, their analytics platform was overloaded with billions of events per day and they needed to find a way to reduce costs and make the analytics more performant.

Outcome

A small team of two people went in and then thoroughly vetted the existing backend systems in order to optimise for aspects like schema structure, messaging queue architecture, database provider and backup provider. This saved an estimated $80,000 in server bills per year, along with additional improvements in maintainability and performance.
